Places to Visit
There are many interesting places to visit in and around Pembrokeshire. We have listed some of our favourites below in alphabetical order.
Erinfa is a large, luxurious, private house between Fishguard Ferry Port and St Davids, the smallest city in Britain with its fine cathedral dedicated to the Patron Saint of Wales.
3 flooded limestone valleys best known for their covering carpet of lilies, which are at their best in June. A footpath winds its way around the banks to the spectacular beach at Broad Haven South. The ponds also offer good course fishing and are well stocked.

Caldey Abbey is the home of Cistercian Monks who farm this tiny island off the coast of Tenby and make the famous Caldey Island perfume and chocolate. Regular boat trips leave from Tenby Harbour. There is also a medieval priory, lighthouse, post office/museum, gift shop and tea garden – as well as a glorious sandy beach, pleasant walks and spectacular views. A fine example of a cromlech, an exposed Neolithic burial chamber. Legend has it that St Samson placed the capstone in position using only his little finger.
West of Abercastle
CAREW CASTLE & TIDAL MILL
An enormous stone castle in a picturesque location next to the mill pond, which powers the tide mill. The castle is ruined now, but was once a powerful stronghold and a grand Elizabethan mansion.

CASTELL HENLLYS IRON AGE HILLFORT
A reconstructed Iron Age hillfort. Findings from excavations carried out on the site have enabled the National Park Authority to realistically reproduce life as it was 2000 years ago. Traditional craft making and ancient breeds of animals can also be found on site. The site is now open over the winter months at a reduced level of entry.

COLBY WOODLAND GARDENS
8 acres of woodland gardens set in a tranquil and secluded valley with one of the best collections of Rhododendrons and Azaleas in Wales. Later highlights are the summer Hydrangeas and autumn foliage. Gift shop, tearoom, gallery, childrens quiz, programme of events. Follow brown signs from the A477 Tenby to Carmarthen Road or off the coast road at Amroth Castle.

THE CREATIVE CAFÉ
A paint your own pottery studio and café where you can decorate a piece of ready made pottery. We’ll glaze and fire it for you to collect. THE DINOSAUR PARK
Dinosaur theme park with 29 dinosaurs on a mile long trail with many indoor and outdoor attractions including activity centre and events programme such as fossil hunt, puppet show, pat-a-pet etc. Adventure playground with golf, trampolines, astra slide, off roaders, tractors etc and Dino’s Play Den for younger children. HILTON COURT GARDENS
9 Acres of woodland and lakes in a sheltered hollow above Nolton Haven, overlooked by the Balcony Tea Room. Entrance to the garden is by cobbled courtyard of converted stone buildings which accommodate craft workshops, a garden centre, restaurant and shop.

LLYS Y FRAN RESERVOIR & COUNTRY PARK
The reservoir is the focal point of the Country Park which has pay & display car parks on either side of the dam wall. Picnic sites, visitor centre, licensed restaurant, toilets, exhibition area and shops. A circular walk and off road cycle route around the reservoir cover 7.5 miles or 11km or 3 hours walking. Fishing is available.

MANOR HOUSE WILDLIFE PARK
New and exciting things are happening at Manor House; the park is undergoing a total transformation. Explore the five continents of Australasia; Africa; Asia; South and North America. In the 18th century local farmers brought their fleeces here to be washed, spun and woven into fine wool blankets. Today our clothing, accessories and bags; blankets, throws and cushions can be found in hip hotels and design-led stores worldwide. There is a shop, tearoom and picnic area and spectacular beaches, cliffs and coastal footpaths, all within five minutes walk.

An enormous oval castle, mostly surrounded by a serene mill pond. Extensively restored in Victorian times, it’s dominated by the complex gatehouse on the outside and the huge circular keep once you’re inside. The walled town of Pembroke grew up around the castle also contains many ancient and interesting Norman buildings.

PENTRE IFAN BURIAL CHAMBER
Set in the heart of Bluestone Country, where the ‘Spotted Dolerite’ came from which made the inner sanctum of Stonehenge. A fine example of a cromlech with a 15 ton capstone intact. Dramatic against sunrise or sunset.

This dramatic island is 1 mile off St Davids Coast. Spectacular high cliffs alive with seabirds. See hundreds of Guillimots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes and Fulmars. A large Atlantic grey seal colony lives around the Island, pups are born September and October and porpoise feeed off shore. ST DAVIDS BISHOPS PALACE
The remains of the Bishops of St Davids principle palace are located alongside The Cathedral in the tranquil valley of the river Alun. This would have been the finest collection of buildings in Wales during the medieval period.
ST DAVID’S CATHEDRAL
The Cathedral built in 1181 is on the site reputed to be that on which St David founded a monastic settlement in the 6th Century. The magnificent ceilings – oak in the Nave, painted in the Quire and Presbytery – and the sloping floor contribute to this most special place. This year a splendid new refectory will open offering fresh local food.

A holy well, retreat and shrine dedicated to the mother of St David, situated on the coast just south of St Davids.

SKOMER, SKOKHOLM & GRASSHOLM BOAT TRIPS
Teeming with wildlife, these islands are the best seabird and seal experience in southern Britain. If you only visit one gallery in Pembrokeshire, make sure it’s this one. A collection of over forty artists’ work including local, Welsh and international artists. During the summer months a sculpture show is held in the beautiful gardens of the Gallery.
